Extrapolated is a personal literary and creative project: a home for essays, stories, photographs, drawings, and other forms that may arrive over time.

It begins with individual experience, but it is interested in what extends beyond that point: the echo, pattern, question, or tenderness that another person might recognize.

I’m Cheyen.

I write in English and French, usually beginning with something I’ve lived, noticed, remembered, or simply found myself thinking about for longer than expected.

Most of the things here start small. A conversation. A place. Someone I knew. Something strange about the natural world. A thought that wouldn’t quite leave me alone.

I don’t particularly know what Extrapolated will become. For now, I’m happy for it to be a place where those things can live, and where I can follow them a little further than I otherwise might.
